Thursday July 13, 2019 - Peguis First Nation held the first ever Box Lacrosse demonstration game in the Peguis Arena. Over the past few weeks, we have been working hard behind the scenes to get lines painted on the floors, shot clocks in place, equipment and box lacrosse goals ordered and delivered. This past weekend the lacrosse world erupted after National Lacrosse League star, Lyle Thompson was on the receiving end of derogatory comments made by an arena announcer at the professional level. It's been a busy month for Youth1st Lacrosse working with Long Plain, Sandy Bay, The Pas, Manitoba First Nation Education Resource Centre, Women's Box Lacrosse, Windsor Park Collegiate, and Gladstone, Manitoba. This past week, Youth1st Lacrosse started up our workshops with Sandy Bay, Manitoba for the season. Great to see so many returning faces from last year and that the skills and passion for the game continue to grow. I am always impressed by the natural lacrosse talent in Sandy Bay.
